The White House named a new AI task force. Its report is due in 120 days.

What happened

On 4 October 2026 President Trump named Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to chair a new federal 'Super Intelligence Force', TechCrunch reports. FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon technology chief Emil Michael and OPM Director Scott Kupor are vice chairs. It has 120 days to report on risks and opportunities.

Why it matters

The FTC chair sits at that table. The stated mandate is to plan for AI-enabled threats while avoiding overregulation, so the federal line on your AI product may get drawn in the next four months.

What to do

Nothing to do yet; watch for the task force report, due about 120 days from 4 October.

Every rulebook starts as a report nobody reads. I'd rather read this one in February than learn it from a letter in June.
