Neon on Azure stops getting new features on 5 October. Some idle projects can go.

What happened

From 5 October 2026, Neon's three Azure regions (azure-eastus2, azure-westus3, azure-gwc) get no new features. Projects in unpaid Neon organizations that sat inactive for 90 days or more become subject to deletion. Paid and active projects keep running, and Neon says a final end-of-service date will be announced later.

Why it matters

Nothing breaks today for a paying customer. But a region that stops getting features is a region on its way out, and the shutdown date hasn't been set yet. When it lands, the runway starts from that day, not this one.

What to do

If your Postgres lives in a Neon Azure region, plan the move now: Neon's AWS regions, Databricks Lakebase if you need Azure data residency, or a Postgres export.

When a vendor says 'existing projects keep running', I read the word 'existing' twice.
