7Maps · Plugin

The 7Maps plugin for Claude Code, Cursor and Gemini CLI

Your coding agent checks an MCP server before it connects, and finds the right tool without loading every tool list. Nothing to set up.

Version 1.3.0MIT licensedSource on GitHub

agent7Maps servers

What it does

Before connecting

The agent asks 7Maps whether a server answers, needs sign-in, how fast it is and how risky each of its tools is estimated to be, instead of connecting blind and loading the whole tool list.

Finding a tool

Describe the job in plain words. 7Maps searches the tools of public MCP servers (over 200,000) and returns matches with their server's status.

After a person approved a server

Did its tools change, or get riskier, since that date? The agent can ask before it calls them again.

Tokens saved, in every answer

Each 7Maps answer states an estimate of the tokens it saved compared with finding the same thing out without 7Maps, after subtracting the context its own tool definitions take. You do not have to ask for it.

Nothing to set up. After installing there is no account, no sign-in and no setting you need to fill in. The agent uses 7Maps when a task involves finding a tool or choosing, connecting or re-using an MCP server, and leaves it alone otherwise.

Risk levels (read-only, needs approval, high risk) are automated estimates from each tool's public name, description and annotations. They can be wrong: treat them as a first check, not a security audit. How the map is made: methodology.

What the plugin contains: the address of the 7Maps MCP server (https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp?set=agent, streamable HTTP: the eight tools an agent uses in a session, with short descriptions, so their definitions take about 2,000 tokens of the agent's context instead of about 11,600) and short instructions for the agent: the mcp-preflight skill and two optional commands in Claude Code, a rule in Cursor and a context file in Gemini CLI. No code runs on your machine, and there are no hooks or background processes.

Install

Claude Code

The plugin works with nothing to set up.

  1. Install. In Claude Code, add the marketplace and install the plugin:
/plugin marketplace add XLSV777/7maps
/plugin install 7maps@7maps

When the plugin is enabled, Claude Code asks for an optional 7Maps key. Leave it empty to continue; everything works the same.

The section is plain text between the lines <!-- 7maps:begin --> and <!-- 7maps:end -->, so you can also edit or delete it by hand. /7maps:never removes that section and nothing else.

Only the server, without the skill:

claude mcp add --transport http 7maps "https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp?via=claude-code"

Cursor

Add to Cursor

Or add the server to .cursor/mcp.json:

{ "mcpServers": { "7maps": { "url": "https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp?via=cursor" } } }

The plugin's Cursor rule (rules/mcp-preflight.mdc) tells the agent when to ask 7Maps. Copying it into .cursor/rules is optional.

Gemini CLI

gemini extensions install https://github.com/XLSV777/7maps

The extension adds the 7Maps server and a short context file (GEMINI.md) that tells Gemini when to use it.

VS Code

Add to VS Code

Or run "MCP: Add Server" from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and enter https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp.

Any other MCP client

Streamable HTTP, no sign-in:

{ "mcpServers": { "7maps": { "type": "http", "url": "https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp" } } }

Listed in the official MCP registry as io.github.XLSV777/7maps.

Measured, not estimated

Real, headless Claude Code runs on a fixed set of tasks, each run three ways: with the plugin, with the plugin and the /7maps:always section, and without the plugin. Tokens are what Claude Code itself reports for the whole task.

Results of the current run appear here.

Tools

find_tool

Search the tools of public MCP servers for one that does a job, with its server's status.

No charge
route

For a task: the server and tool that can do it with the least access, plus alternatives and servers to avoid.

Per call
road_conditions

Before connecting: status, speed, every tool's risk level, the last change and the agents' rating.

Per call
watch

Did a server a person approved change its tools, or get riskier, since that date.

Per call
tool_card

One tool's schema and risk level, without loading the whole tool list.

Per call
preflight

Will these arguments pass the tool's schema, and does the server answer. Never calls the server.

Per call
verify_lock

Are a server's tools still the ones a person approved, tool by tool.

Per call
changes_since

What changed across up to 50 servers since a date.

Per call
about_7maps

What the map covers now, what each tool answers, the prices and a real example.

No charge
list_paid_tools

Current prices and how to pay.

No charge
report_road

Report how a call to a server went, in fixed fields. Optional; it keeps the ratings accurate.

No charge
my_7maps_usage

What 7Maps did for you, with the optional key.

No charge
submit_mcp_server

For owners: put a server that is not in the registry on the map.

No charge
claim_mcp_server

For owners: verify ownership, add a note for agents, get a status badge.

No charge
my_server_report

For owners: how often agents looked for servers like yours.

No charge

The plugin connects to the agent set (?set=agent): find_tool, route, road_conditions, watch, tool_card, preflight, report_road and my_7maps_usage. The other tools, including the ones for owners, are on the full server, https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp. Servers can be named by URL, registry name or the vendor's plain name, such as "notion".

The first 20 calls a day of route and road_conditions are not charged, so the plugin works before an agent has a wallet. After that, the tools marked "Per call" are paid per call in USDC on Base through x402, by agents whose owner gave them a wallet (how). list_paid_tools returns the current prices. An agent without a wallet gets one line saying 7Maps cannot answer, and continues as usual.

Optional personal key

Entirely optional. A personal key ties your agent's 7Maps calls to your own numbers: calls, servers checked, an estimate of the tokens saved and the failures avoided, by day, week and month, at 7it.co.il/7maps/me. It changes nothing about what a call costs, and 7Maps works the same without one.

  1. Create a key at 7it.co.il/7maps/me. No account and no email; the key is shown once.
  2. Claude Code plugin: paste it into the "7Maps key (optional)" setting when Claude Code asks for it. The setting is marked sensitive, so Claude Code keeps it in your system's credential store rather than in a settings file. It is sent as the X-7Maps-Key header.
  3. Cursor, Gemini CLI, VS Code and other clients: add the header to the 7Maps server entry in your MCP settings (.cursor/mcp.json, ~/.gemini/settings.json, .vscode/mcp.json).
{ "mcpServers": { "7maps": { "url": "https://7it.co.il/7maps/mcp", "headers": { "X-7Maps-Key": "7m_your_key" } } } }

Then ask your agent to call my_7maps_usage, or open the dashboard. You can rotate the key or delete it, with every number tied to it, on the same page.

Data and privacy

What the plugin sends

Only what the agent puts in a 7Maps tool call, and only when it makes one: the address or registry name of the MCP server it asks about, the job or task in plain words (find_tool, route), an approval date, saved tool hashes, or, for preflight, the tool name and the arguments it plans to send, which are checked against the schema and never forwarded to that server. Plus what every MCP client sends when it connects (its name and version), a tag showing the connection came from the plugin, and your key if you added one.

What is never sent

The plugin does not read your files, code, prompts or conversation, and sends nothing on its own. No tool is ever called on another server through 7Maps; no credentials for other servers are asked for. Reports on how a call went are optional and use fixed fields only, never text in the agent's own words.

What is kept

A short usage record per call: the tool, the client software, whether it worked, how long it took, the country derived from the network address, the public server the answer was about and the tokens-saved estimate. Your IP address is not stored in it; a keyed code is kept instead. The words of a task are not stored: only a category and a few common keywords are counted.

How long

Usage records are deleted after 90 days. Raw demand counts and the per-call counts of a personal key after about a month, once daily totals exist; the daily totals of a key until you delete it. Optional reports become part of the signed public history. Our host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operations.

The opt-in sensors for MCP gateways are separate packages, not part of this plugin; their IP address is never stored either. Full details: the 7Maps sections of the privacy policy and the terms, and retention in the methodology.

Uninstall or turn off

Claude Code

Turn off: /plugin disable 7maps@7maps. Remove: /plugin uninstall 7maps@7maps, then /plugin marketplace remove 7maps. If you added only the server: claude mcp remove 7maps. If you ran /7maps:always in a project, run /7maps:never there first, or delete the 7Maps section from its CLAUDE.md.

Cursor

Switch 7maps off in Cursor's MCP settings, or delete its entry from .cursor/mcp.json (and the rule, if you copied it).

Gemini CLI

Turn off: gemini extensions disable 7maps. Remove: gemini extensions uninstall 7maps.

VS Code

Run "MCP: List Servers", choose 7maps and stop or remove it, or delete its entry from mcp.json.

Removing the plugin does not delete a personal key. To delete the key and its numbers, use "Delete my data" at 7it.co.il/7maps/me.
